Evan Gerking

Hi, I'm Evan Gerking. I love my son, I love movies, baseball, and travel. While writing a summary of one's self is difficult, I tried to ask myself: "Hey Evan Gerking, what do you want to tell the world about yourself here in this summary area?" The answer is this: that we are all in this together. Togetherness. Sometimes we all get angry, and we might post something on the internet that we disagree with and use strong words to describe our feelings... let's not discount what others have to say. Let's try to use the internet in a positive fashion in the way it was originally designed: to bring people together. One of my greatest fears in life is that I will start to only see one point of view, one news feed, one way of thinking about a problem. What does a person need in this world? Three things if you ask me: baseball on natural grass in the afternoon. Travel to a new place with good friends. People around them that understand who you really are and what you really care about. When someone asks me "Hey Evan Gerking, what do you really care about?" in the end the best answer is that I am doing my best to be the greatest father and most caring friend to those few people who are lucky enough to really get to know me. I enjoy the internet so I can follow along with my friends' lives across large distances, look up interesting facts about things that I am interested in... Facetime with a person who lives across the sea. But nothing can trade out for the people we are with every day. Being Evan Gerking is a wonderful gift. Together with you. Together with everyone else in the world. Don't forget that.
